Job Description – Electronics Procurement Engineer

Experience: 10–15 Years

Department: Supply Chain / Procurement

Reporting To: Procurement manager

Location: Peenya, Bangalore (WFO)

Role Overview

We are seeking an Electronics Procurement Engineer with 10–15 years of experience in

electrical and electronic components procurement. The role involves vendor management,

EMS coordination, BOM costing, import procurement, and end-to-end material planning.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

● Procure electrical and electronic components including PCBs, semiconductors, passives, connectors, relays, harnesses, sensors, and power electronics.

● Identify authorized distributors and suppliers and develop alternate sourcing strategies.

● Find and qualify alternate components for cost reduction, lead-time mitigation, and

EOL scenarios.

● Ensure material availability as per production and project schedules.

Vendor Management & Negotiation

● Vendor onboarding including commercial evaluation and approval.

● Negotiate pricing, MOQ, and lead time with suppliers and distributors.

● Monitor supplier performance on quality, delivery, and cost.

● Coordinate with vendors for RFQs, samples, and technical clarifications.

EMS Vendor Interaction

● Work closely with EMS vendors for BOM costing, RFQs, and order execution.

● Follow up with EMS vendors for material availability, production status, and dispatch.

● Identify and onboard new EMS vendors based on capacity, quality, and cost.

● Resolve material shortages, substitutions, and delivery issues in coordination with EMS teams.

BOM Costing & Material Control

● Perform BOM costing and support cost optimization initiatives.

● Maintain and update BOM pricing based on market trends and negotiations.

● Support engineering teams during BOM finalization and revisions. ERP, GRN & Documentation

● Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in ERP systems.

● Handle GRN (Goods Receipt Note) creation and coordinate with stores/quality teams.

● Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier data, and inventory updates in ERP.

● Strong hands-on experience with Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, cost analysis).

Import Procurement

● Handle import of electronic components, including:

○ Vendor coordination

○ Commercial documentation (Invoice, Packing List)

○ Lead-time tracking and follow-ups

● Coordinate with logistics, customs clearing agents, and finance teams.

Cross-Functional Coordination

● Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Finance, and Stores teams.

● Support audit requirements and procurement reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

● 2–5 years of experience in electronics procurement.

● Hands-on experience in: GRN creation, BOM costing, ERP/MRP systems& Advanced Excel.

● Strong knowledge of electronic components and supply chain processes.

● Experience working with EMS vendors is mandatory.

● Good negotiation and vendor management skills.

Preferred Skills

● Experience in EV / Automotive electronics.

● Exposure to import/export procurement processes.

● Knowledge of component lifecycle management (PCN, EOL, shortages).

Education

● Diploma or Engineering degree in:

○ Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)

○ Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)

○ Electronics or related disciplines

OR

● B.Sc / M.Sc in Electronics or equivalent qualification
