Production Manager – Chennai

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Production Manager who will take complete ownership of production, planning, manpower management, and dispatch operations at our Chennai facility.

This role is not limited to supervising shop floor activities. The selected candidate will be responsible for end-to-end operational execution — from production planning to final dispatch — ensuring efficiency, quality compliance, cost control, and timely order fulfillment.

The candidate will directly manage shop floor labour teams and ensure structured workflow, productivity, and discipline across operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Control:

• Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on business requirements.

• Ensure alignment between production schedules and dispatch timelines.

• Monitor output and ensure achievement of production targets.

• Coordinate closely with procurement and operations teams to ensure material availability.

2. Shop Floor & Manpower Management:

• Supervise and manage labour teams working on the shop floor.

• Allocate responsibilities and monitor daily performance.

• Ensure productivity, discipline, and operational efficiency.

• Identify manpower gaps and recommend improvements.

3. End-to-End Production Execution:

• Oversee the complete production lifecycle.

• Ensure adherence to process standards and operational SOPs.

• Troubleshoot operational bottlenecks and implement corrective measures.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance output and reduce inefficiencies.

4. Dispatch & Coordination:

• Ensure timely preparation and dispatch of finished goods.

• Coordinate with logistics teams to align dispatch schedules.

• Verify documentation and dispatch readiness before shipment.

5. Quality & Compliance:

• Maintain quality standards throughout the production process.

• Monitor rejection rates and minimize wastage.

• Ensure compliance with internal operational guidelines and safety standards.

6. Cost & Efficiency Management:

• Optimize material utilization and reduce operational wastage.

• Monitor production costs and recommend efficiency improvements.

• Maintain structured reporting of daily production and dispatch metrics.

Required Skills & Competencies:

1. Candidate should be able to speak in Hindi

• Strong understanding of production planning and warehouse operations.

• Hands-on experience in managing shop floor labour teams.

• Ability to handle end-to-end operational responsibility.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.

• Good coordination and communication skills.

• Proficiency in MS Excel for reporting and production tracking.

• ERP exposure preferred; prior experience working in an ERP-based system will be an added advantage.

Educational Qualification:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Production, Operations, or related field preferred.
2. Experience in manufacturing / industrial setup preferred.
3. 3 to 6 yrs of experience is required.
