We are seeking L1 Unix/Linux System Administrators with a strong foundation in RedHat Linux administration and basic familiarity with Solaris. This is a hands-on operational role suited to engineers early in their systems administration career who are looking to build depth across enterprise Unix/Linux environments.
Key Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day administration and support of RedHat Linux servers (Solaris exposure is a plus).
Provide 24/7 support.
Assist in building and configuring standard operating environments (SOEs) for Linux systems.
Apply OS and third-party patches under guidance, following established change processes.
Support configuration of basic system security settings and adherence to security benchmarks.
Assist with configuring access to local and SAN-based storage.
Monitor and tune basic system parameters (network configuration, shared memory, services).
Write and maintain basic Shell scripts; exposure to Perl and/or Python is a plus.
Assist in troubleshooting performance issues related to memory, CPU, I/O, and other system resources.
Support use of enterprise tools such as Veritas and Centrify.
Assist with RedHat Linux packaging tasks.
Support virtual server builds and basic administration in a VMware environment.
Requirements
Solid working knowledge of RedHat Linux administration; basic Solaris knowledge is an advantage.
Basic scripting ability (Shell required; Perl/Python a plus).
Understanding of fundamental OS concepts (processes, file systems, permissions, services).
Willingness to learn Cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure preferred) and Windows Server basics.
Exposure to VMware virtualization is a plus.
Good communication skills and ability to work within a team, following defined operational processes (incident, problem, and change management).
Eagerness to learn and grow within a structured escalation environment (L1 → L2 → L3).
