Proposal Engineer – Water & Wastewater Treatment

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or related discipline

Job Summary

We are looking for a Proposal Engineer with experience in the Water & Wastewater Treatment industry to support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for treatment plants such as RO, UF, ETP, STP, and WTP systems. The candidate will work closely with the sales, process, procurement, and engineering teams to develop competitive proposals and ensure timely submission of tenders and quotations.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Review customer enquiries, RFQs, and tender documents to understand project requirements.
2. Prepare technical proposals, process descriptions, and basic flow diagrams for water and wastewater treatment systems.
3. Assist in developing treatment schemes for RO, UF, ETP, STP, and WTP applications.
4. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for obtaining quotations and technical specifications.
5. Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, and techno-commercial offers under the guidance of senior engineers.
6. Support technical discussions with customers, consultants, and internal teams to clarify project requirements.
7. Assist in preparing process calculations, equipment sizing, and water balance calculations.
8. Prepare and maintain proposal documentation, technical submittals, and bid records.
9. Coordinate with procurement and engineering teams for technical inputs during proposal preparation.
10. Support post-order engineering activities by providing proposal-related inputs and documentation.
11. Maintain databases for vendor quotations, equipment specifications, and cost references.
12. Contribute to continuous improvement through lessons learned from executed projects.

Required Skills

1. Basic understanding of Water & Wastewater Treatment processes (RO, UF, ETP, STP, WTP).
2. Knowledge of equipment such as pumps, blowers, filters, clarifiers, tanks, and instrumentation.
3. Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
4. Familiarity with process calculations and water balance preparation.
5. Good understanding of MS Excel, Word, and AutoCAD.
6. Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple proposals and meet submission deadlines.

Preferred Experience

1. 3–5 years of experience in Proposal Engineering, Process Engineering, or Application Engineering within the Water & Wastewater industry.
2. Experience in preparing technical bids, vendor coordination, and costing support.
3. Exposure to industrial and municipal water treatment projects will be an added advantage.
