Department: Merchant Banking – IPO & PE Sales
Reporting To: Business & Partnership Lead
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a consultative, corporate-facing sales role in the IPO and PE fundraising segment. You will not be selling financial products to individual investors. Instead, you will engage with promoters, founders, and senior leadership teams of growth-stage companies, understand their business and capital needs, and introduce them to Getfive's merchant banking solutions. Success in this role requires the ability to build relationships at a corporate level, ask the right questions during discovery conversations, and nurture a long sales cycle that culminates in a transaction mandate — not a one-call close.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead Generation & Corporate Outreach
- Build and activate a network of channel partners — CA firms, boutique advisors, family offices, and industry associations — to originate leads from companies evaluating IPOs, pre-IPO fundraising, or AIF participation.
- Proactively identify target companies at the right stage of growth (revenue, profitability, promoter intent) for capital markets engagement.
- Conduct structured outreach and initial conversations with CXOs and founders to establish Getfive's credibility and assess fitment.
Consultative Client Conversations
- Conduct in-depth discovery calls and face-to-face meetings to understand a company’s business model, financial position, growth plans, and fundraising objectives.
- Present Getfive's merchant banking capabilities — IPO advisory, pre-IPO PE placement, and AIF structuring — as tailored solutions rather than generic pitches.
- Navigate multi-stakeholder conversations involving promoters, CFOs, legal advisors, and board members.
- Follow up with rigor and intelligence, understanding where a prospect is in their decision-making journey and moving them forward without being transactional.
Relationship Building & Account Management
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients and strategic intermediary partners to drive repeat and referral business.
- Collaborate with internal advisory and execution teams to ensure a seamless transition from mandate signing to deal execution.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities post-engagement, such as follow-on services, AIF investments, or referrals within a promoter’s network.
- Be available for travel to client locations, investor conferences, and partner meetings as required.
Pipeline & CRM Management
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date CRM pipeline, logging every interaction, tracking deal stages, and proactively flagging risks.
- Coordinate with the Business & Partnership Lead on deal status and handoffs, and provide regular reporting on lead activity and conversion progress.
WHO YOU ARE
You have 2–4 years of experience engaging with business owners, CXOs, or senior corporate stakeholders — not consumers. You understand that selling in merchant banking is about building trust over time, not closing quickly.
- You are curious about businesses and enjoy understanding how a company generates revenue, what stage it is at, and what its promoter’s ambitions are.
- You have experience in advisory, institutional, or corporate B2B sales and understand why a relationship-first, solution-led approach outperforms transactional selling.
- You have a working knowledge of capital markets, merchant banking, or financial advisory services, or you come with a strong finance background and the willingness to learn quickly.
- You are disciplined about follow-ups and pipeline hygiene — you rely on process, not memory.
- You hold an MBA in Finance & Marketing (or equivalent).
QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA in Finance and Marketing (mandatory).
- 2–4 years of experience in corporate/institutional B2B sales, investment banking support, advisory sales, or financial services sales to businesses (not consumers).
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads through networks and convert them through consultative engagement.
- Understanding of merchant banking, IPO processes, PE fundraising mechanics, or similar financial services.
- Experience using CRM tools and managing multiple parallel opportunities.
- Open to regular travel for client and partner engagements.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
This role is not suitable for candidates from retail financial sales backgrounds, including home loans, personal loans, credit cards, mutual fund distribution, insurance, or any role primarily focused on selling to individual consumers. Our clients are companies, not individuals. Our sales conversations revolve around strategy, capital, and business outcomes — not products and premiums.
